During pregnancy, 1 in every 16 women may die in Subsaharian Africa. On the other hand, if they do live, they may suffer complications after the birth of the child that can endanger their role in society.


This Millennium Development Goal influences and is influenced by other difficulties felt in these countries, such as, the impossibility of gender equality, the increase in child mortality and bad nutrition and health which may cause 20% of children’s deaths.
