With the signing of the Millennium Declaration in 2000 by all the member countries of the United Nations, the poorest countries agreed to apply measures so that the Millennium Development Goals can be achieved.
GOAL #8:
develop a global partnership for development
Even thought the GDF increased from 1997 to 2005, it decreased in 2006.
The helping countries promised to double their contributions until 2010.
The richest countries still don’t fight fair on their commercial trades.
The developing countries have to:
Explore their own natural resources.
Give more importance to the MDGs.
Build a solid governation and eliminate barriers to the services.
The richest countries agreed to support the developing (and poorest) countries in their effort to achieve the MDGs in three fundamental areas:
• Forgiveness of the debt;
• Global Development Finance (GDF);
• Comercial measures.
